Ships from all over the world sail by, the port of IJmuiden is at full speed and the north pier of Wijk aan Zee shines in the sun. This stunning view is only an half hour away from Amsterdam. The capital city is just around the corner. And that’s for a reason.
This fortress island is part of the “Stelling van Amsterdam” (Defence Line of Amsterdam) and UNESCO World Heritage. The defence line was built around 1885 to defend the capital. Our fortress is the biggest of the entire Defence Line. It’s almost huge!

There’s plenty to discover in the fortress. But what you’re going to explore, is up to you. Will you go on a culinary tour or would you rather try your luck at archery?
